All submissions must have an element of aviation or flight to be considered. Check out our first volume for free at turbulencecoffeemagazine.mailchimpsites.com to get an idea of what we're looking for.
Overall, we’re looking for new and old voices, and stories from across the world, so don’t worry about language conventions, but the work must be in English. There is no fee to submit your work.
Unfortunately, we are unable to pay for accepted work at this time, but will promote your work on social media, our website, and, of course, our magazine.
We accept:
- short fiction, 500-5,000 words (we will consider shorter or longer works if the theme of aviation is strong)
- poetry
- creative non-fiction, 2,500-7,500 words
- comics
- original art to be included throughout the magazine, or accompanying written work
Please note that we received an overwhelming amount of poetry for our inaugural issue but we’d like to keep our focus on short fiction and non-fiction and will be accepting less poetry for the upcoming volume. This means that your poetry will need to fit the theme extremely well to be considered.
If you have any questions about our submission guidelines feel free to email us at turbulenceandcoffee@gmail.com. We strive to respond to all emails within one month and all submissions within two months, but we are a small team; please be patient and only send one bump email. If you have not heard from us in two months regarding your submission assume we’ll be passing on your work for this volume. We will not respond to submissions that do not fit the theme of this magazine.
The magazine will be published late 2024.
The Scan is a new project through Turbulence & Coffee. The idea is to promote self-published authors via our website each month and in our published volume (one or the other, likely not both).
Send us approximately 5,000 words of your novel and the cover image to be posted on our website or upcoming volume and we'll share your author website and where to purchase your book. Books can be fiction or non-fiction but must have some sort of flight or aviation element, or the author must be a pilot or involved in aviation in some manner (this is pretty loose, we're excited to work with a wide range of writers).
Writers must own the rights to their work and will retain the rights to their work if we publish the blurb on our site or in the magazine. This is an ongoing project, please be patient with our responses as we're a small team. We do not make payments to authors for this project.
